The Centre of Multicultural Exchange
Maritime State University named after G.I. Nevelskoy

Purpose:
Assist the Maritime State University (MSU) integration into the international education, promote multicultural unity idea.
The Centre Mission:
To create multicultural awareness with the emphasis on sharing of core values, by exchange programs (“face-to-face” contacts) aimed at breaking stereotypes & increasing international understanding and goodwill.
Area of expertise:
To develop, introduce and deliver projects raising the profile and international recognition of the Maritime State University specialists.

 

Primary goals:

1. Organize multicultural dialogue through interaction with consulates general & public
2. Develop strategy and realize the MSU PR-international activity
3. Provide conformity to the international transactions of the MSU actions at a high level
4. Improve professional skills of the MSU officials in the multicultural dialogue area through participation in the Centre programs
5. Initiate multicultural youth projects with the MSU cadets and students involved

1. PR of the MSU international projects, implement representation functions on solemn receptions, negotiations and other activities of the MSU on a top-level

2. Interpret from English into Russian and vice-versa when conduct multicultural projects and participate in the MSU international activities; work up booklets, brochures.

3. Promote the multicultural unity idea: to organize culture activities in cooperation with consulates general in Vladivostok (not less than 1 time a month):

• create international image materials for the MSU, make videolibrary, exchange videofilms with foreign partners
• release video almanac "The invitation to the dialogue " (not less often than once a quarter)
• install videotopics; time of display on the local TV: Monday, Wednesday: 10.30 a.m. - 10.40 a.m.; 12.10 p.m. – 12.20 p.m.; 14.00 p.m. - 15.00 p.m.
• work out Internet-page and constantly refresh information about multicultural events in two languages (every week)
• creative seminars on TV mastery with demonstration of the Centre video-production (Thursday 16.30. p.m.)

4. Cooperate with the city business-elite: participate in VIBA activities as corporate member (visit VIBA sessions once a month + holidays with foreign guests once a quarter).

5. Work on transactions with Rotary International (constant coordination of projects with foreign partners, representatives’ reception 1-2 times a year).

6. Realize programs in the framework of “Youth and Staff Development project” - the project on competitiveness increase of the MSU experts:

• English workshops for Senior Management (every Thursday at 15.00.p.m. from 15 February till 15 June; from 30 September till 30 December).
• intensive English for MUNA youth project (Model United Nations Assembly) (Wednesday and Thursday 16.30.p.m.).
• deliver educational & publicity programs to increase awareness of the multicultural world
• cross-cultural consulting.
• IELTS (International English Language Testing System) consulting (certificate confirm once a year).
• meet the international programs’ participants, spread information about such programs.

7. Search and attract foreign partners for realization the exchange and other multicultural programs. Foreign representatives’ reception 1-2 times a year. Training abroad 1-2 times a year, training in Moscow - once a year.
