MSU : INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Maritime State University named after adm. G.I. Nevelskoi has great experience of international cooperation in the sphere of educational services for overseas countries.

The University has international connections of academic and scientific kinds with many countries. The closest connections are with Japan, China, USA, Australia, Canada and Sweden.

Cooperation with Japan includes probation periods of teaching staff of MSU in Maritime University in Kobe where MSU graduate takes postgraduate studies nowadays, “Nadezhda” calling at Japanese ports during navigation practice, annual visiting of the boat of the Highest Fishing School from Niigata and Japanese teacher's work on the department of foreign languages.

MSU has close connection with Chinese Universities: Dalyang Maritime University and Shanghai Maritime University. There are contracts of cooperation, mutual visiting training boats, teachers and literature exchange. The teacher of Chinese language from Dalyang Maritime University had been working during a year in Maritime State University. More over, the crew of the yacht “Comaddore Bering” visited Dalyang Maritime University. There is an idea of joint navigation practice with students of Shanghai Maritime University on the training boat “Nadezhda”.

MSU also has close connection with Australian Maritime College. Teachers of English from MSU had probation period in this college and the teacher from Australian Maritime College worked in MSU. Some students studied in Australian Maritime College. There was students' exchange during navigation practice. Training boat “Nadezhda” visited Australia, took part in sail races. Our yachts visit Australia.

There are connections with King Poinstock Academy of Trade Fleet of the USA and California Maritime University. There are singed contracts about cooperation, there is academic plans and programs exchange. California Maritime University is ready to teach Russian students during 4 years academic plan. Training boat of California Maritime University “Golden Bear” visited Vladivostok and MSU.

The teacher-navigator from Canadian college Camassun worked with senior students.

MSU is connected with Swedish International Maritime University, also MSU submits academic programs with SIMU, teacher of English worked in this University.

Maritime State University named after adm. G.I. Nevelskoi is one of the founders of International Association of Maritime Universities of Pacific area.

Twice the MSU took part in the Congress of Pacific RIM shipbuilders (Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, China) in Singapore in 1997 and in Japan in 1998.

In 2001 MSU became the member of Asian academic net. About ten universities from China, Japan and Russia were included into Asian academic net. Russia is represented only by two Far Eastern universities, Maritime State University named after adm. G.I. Nevelskoi and Far Eastern State University.
