The cultural and educational project Literary Saloon was launched in autumn 2012.
The format of work of the Literary Saloon is presentation of books about the sea and seafarers, meetings of cadets and students of the Maritime University with the authors of books: captains, chief engineers, our graduates.
Members of the Far Eastern Association of Sea Captains and Writers’ Unions are frequent guests of the Saloon.

On March 21, the Literary Saloon of the Nevelskoy MSU hosted the Poetic Ring timed to the World Poetry Day.
This competition is called the Ring because it consists of 3 rounds, as in a fight of boxers.
The jury awarded the victory of the team of the Maritime University.
Walks around Vladivostok: a novel to be continued
December 14, 2016 presentation of Nellie Miz’s book «Vladivostok: walks to the past. French Pages» took place in the Literary Saloon.
It is known that the young port of Vladivostok, when appeared on the maps of the world, became a multinational town. Together with Russians, the French also settled here as well as Germans, Polish, Scandinavians, British, Americans, Italians, Jewish, Greeks, Japanese, Koreans and Chinese.
The gangway between the past and the future
November 30, 2016 the presentation of the anniversary book «125 years. From the Alexander classes to the Maritime University» was held in the Assembly Hall of the Nevelskoy MSU.
It is not easy to present a book that contains dozens of stories and fates of known and even famous people who proudly say, «My whole life is connected with the Maritime University».
Heirs of Sea Way
October 25, 2016 the book by V. Korolyuk and N. Kritsky «For the Sea Way» on the history of maritime education in the Far East was presented in the Literary Saloon on the Nevelskoy MSU timed to the 320th anniversary of the Russian Fleet to freshmen of the Navigation, Engineering and Electric Engineering Departments.
The Anniversary Book: 125 Years of History in Persons and Events
A documentary and art publication - the book «125 years. From Alexander classes to the Maritime University» dedicated to the anniversary of maritime education in Primorsky Krai came out to the Day of Knowledge - September 1, 2016.
The jubilee book is a living history of the oldest in the Far East Maritime University told by many creative and outstanding people who left a large footprint on the sands of time.
Bends between the Sky and the Sea
May 25, 2016 Air Force Major General in reserve, pilot-sniper, Distinguished Military Pilot of the Russian Federation V. Kuropatkin visited the Literary Saloon of the Nevelskoy MSU.
The General’s conversation with the cadets touched many topical issues: political, social and moral ones.
The First Circumnavigation of the Third Millennium
April 27, 2016 the Literary Saloon meeting was about memorable pages of the circumnavigation of the sail training ship Nadezhda with the presentation of the book «Around the World with Nadezhda» and the essay by Viktor M. Kononov «Undivided Glory» published in the Far East magazine this year.

March 23, 2016 a poetic-musical evening «Free element» dedicated to the World Poetry Day was held in the Nevelskoy MSU Literary Saloon. The Maritime Humanitarian Institute came up with an initiative to hold it, and the Center for Patriotic Education organized it involving cadets, students, teachers and staff of the University.

December 16, 2015 the Nevelskoy MSU held the awarding ceremony of the winners and prizewinners of the Literary Contest «The Winged Sail» timed to the 125th anniversary of maritime education in Primorye and the Year of Literature.
The Literary Contest became one of the final events in 2015.

May 20, 2015 another meeting of the Nevelskoy MSU Literary Saloon took place in the framework of the Project «Star on the service coat» timed to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This meeting was dedicated to two of our graduates, heroes-captains Nikolai Sipyagin and Viktor Sakharov.

Students of the Acting Faculty of the Far Eastern State Academy of Arts were guests of the Nevelskoy MSU Literary Saloon. The cultural enlightenment «landing party» consisted of twelve young men and girls, as different as the poems they recited.

February 20, 2013 the Literary and Musical Evening dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the legendary sea captain Anna I. Shchetinina was held in the Nevelskoy MSU Assembly Room.

January 30, 2013 the meeting of the Nevelskoy MSU Literary Saloon was devoted to the poetry of member of the Union of Russian Writers Oleg Matveyev.
This meeting was like an officer’s meeting, where the cadets of the Maritime Academy and the Maritime College took part in the conversation about poetry in the presence of numerous high-ranking officers.

December 5, 2012 the book by Vladimir F. Gamanov «Life under sail. Notes of a yacht captain» was presented in the Nevelskoy MSU Literary Saloon.
Prof. Vladimir F. Gamanov has been working at the University for over thirty years. Almost fifty years of his life he dedicated to sailing. Twenty five years ago he became a yachting captain, a master of sports of the Russian Sailing Federation.

November 1, 2012 the Nevelskoy MSU Center for Patrioti Education with the support of the Far East Association of Sea Captains and the Primorsky Branch of the Union of Russian Writers presents a new Project – Literary Saloon of the Nevelskoy MSU. The Literary Saloon of the Nevelskoy MSU is a continuation of the literary traditions of the Maritime University. Its library contains dozens of books written by the alumni and staff of the institution. The Project can in a sense be regarded as an anthology of sea voyages and accidents. Its aim is involving the young people in Russian literary marine studies, transferring the experience of fleet veterans and strengthening the ties between different generations of sailors.
