MSU : EDUCATION : TRAINING CENTERS OF MSU : GMSCS

Training equipment (GMSCS) was based in April 10, 1997 on the department of technical devices of ship navigation. At the beginning the training was held on computer simulators that allowed conducting training within such programs as Operator of GMSCS and Operator of GMSCS of limited navigation district. In a year according to the contract of education between FESCO and MSU named after amd. G.I. Nevelskoi the new equipment of GMSCS was installed. Training equipment was improved to educate on the program “Radioelectrengineer of GMSCS 2nd class” in groups of 4 students. In 5 months the training center bought one mire set of equipment SCANTI in Norvegian Partners Marine Company, thus the center had bought the license to educate radioelectroengineers in groups of 8 students. Every autumn the training center educates ship navigators of the program “Operator of GMSCS of limited navigation district”. During the rest part of the year the equipment is used by Academy's students to prepare and to write diploma works, also the equipment is used to teach the high rank staff of a vessel. Also we have the constant work of renewal and developing new documentation and teaching techniques of GMSCS. Teachers of training center always take courses of special education, take part in navigation trips on Academy's vessels, they attend seminars devoted to problems of GMSCS.

Training center GMSCS with JSC “Norphes” was the first to be installed and certified in December 1995 on Russian Far East. The equipment was developed on a base of real equipment of a company “Sailor” and allows to teach 8 students at a time. Also there is the possibility to create different situations for radio connection organizing for working in any extreme conditions in any part of the World Ocean. About 1000 students were trained and given diplomas of radio operators of GMSCS. In order to make classes more efficient different video and TV equipment is used. In 2000 the Training Center was certified and included in the so-called “white list of IMO”, diplomas of GMSCS graduates are recognized in all over the world.
