News for december, 2002 December 27, 2002Holiday for children! In December 27th students of Psychological Institute hold the holiday in the Maritime State University named after adm.G.I. Nevelskoi. This holiday was organized for children from the Regional Social Rehabilitation Center. This center is the home for homeless children from Primorye.

Nevelskoi will start the around the world tour in January 19th 2003. It is not the random choice. Two hundred years ago Russian sailors under the command of I. Kruzershtern and U. Lisayanskyi made the first around the world tour on sail boats “Nadezhda” and “Neva”. “Nadezhda” will start this tour in order of this event.

This conference will be devoted to the 260 anniversary of Vitus Bering’s tour to the coasts of America and to the 200 anniversary of the first Russian round the world tour under the command of I.Kruzenshtern and U.Lissyansyi. Organizers of the conference are the Departmen of MSU History and Marine section of Amurskyi regin exploring society.

Rector of upbringing and social-staff work V.M. Kononov made a holiday speech. The orchestra of MSU played the solemn marches.   December 6, 2002Anniversary of sea protection institute In December 6th Sea Defense Institute held the holiday meeting devoted to the anniversary of Sea Defense Institute. It was organized in December 1st, 2001 by the University’s Head order.

For the first time the university has got the certificate of achievements in physical training.   December 4, 2002Remembrance dayFour years ago, friendship society “Russia-Japan” and Primorskyi Department of Russian Writers Unit held the first international internet-conference where sailor-veterans and students took part. Then it was decided to establish Remembrance Day for Dead in sea in December 13.
