About 3000 sportsmen from 30 countries took part in the event. Russia was represented mainly by Primorski sportsmen, among them there were six cadets and students of the Maritime State University. The Russian team won two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

On 27 September, 2004 sociologists of the MSU Institute of Socio-Political Problems of Management held an opinion poll among Vladivostok residents in order to learn the latter’s attitude towards some issues of housing and communal service. Its results show that the population does not know the structure of the communal tariff.

Three races are over, two more are ahead. Sportsmen from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Taganrog, Sochi, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Nakhodka and Vladivostok are taking part in the Championship.In all there are 39 participating crews. According to the results of the first three races, "Rock’n’Roll", "Illusion" and "Condor" (MSU) are the first three. The final results will be made known after two more races, on September 10 and 12.
Press Service of the Maritime State University   September 9, 2004Center of pre-university training in Knevichi School year started successfully in the Center of Pre-University Training and Patriotic Education, Maritime State University in village Knevichi. Now 100 schoolchildren are studying there mainly from socially difficult families. The children are fully provided.
So far financing is less that it was expected. MSU Rector V.I.Sedykh is planning to start vocational training of the teenagers.

This competition has the status of the country’s championship for the second year. Previously, since 1986 it was held within the framework of the All-Russian Regatta "Peter the Great Bay Cup". The Maritime State University entered the first three prize-winners five times and twice the "Condor" yacht crew headed by the well-known yachtsman, MSU teacher Garik Stepanyan became a winner of this hard and prestigious race.

Well-known MSU skippers Vladimir Gamaniv, Garik stepanyan, Alexey Mikhailov, Yuri Sayapin and other sportsmen confirmed their high class once again: the Cup made according to Fyodor Konyukhov’s design in 1981 was handed to the team of the Maritime State University.

688 students will be funded by the Government. The documents will be accepted till 15 July. Entrance examinations will start on the 16 July.

True, how can one be deprived of whatever did happen. It is not difficult to explain why the initial diagram of our route contains inexact calculations of distances between the ports and time of stays there. In the course of our voyage some ports of call were changed and the length of the route changed correspondingly.

At that time the ship was in the Philippine Sea, with all sails set.

Ivan Yegorchev, the “Nadezhda”   February 18, 2004Russia in Asia-Pacific Region On 17 February an International Research-cum-Practical Conference “The Russian Far East and Integration Processes in Pacific Rim: Economic, Social, Political and Humanitarian Problems” took place in the Institute of Eastern Asia of the Maritime State University named after admiral G.I.Nevelskoy. Teachers and leaders of the Institute of Eastern Asia, MSU Institute of Management, scholars of the Institute of History Archaeology and Ethnography of Far East Peoples, FEB RAS and post-graduates of the Vladivostok State University of Economics and Services took part in discussions of those issues.

She stayed in the port Honiara for 3 days. Members of the local government visited the ship. The cadets and crew members took an opportunity to see exotic sights of the country.

Bloody battles of the US and UK Navies with the Japanese were fought there. In 1942-43 about 58,000 US paratroopers landed there. About 50 shot down aircraft are lying under water around the islands.

  January 27, 2004“New book” publishing programUnder the “New Book” Publishing Progam a collection of poetry by V.Protasov, a collection of free verse by the same author and memoirs by Zavyalova were published.   January 25, 2004Report of research leader for one year’s work in the expedition Today is exactly one year since the beginning of the Expedition. The main part of the research program has been completed, despite all the difficulties.

On that clear winter day the training sailcraft “Nadezhda” owned by the Maritime State University named after admiral G.I.Nevelskoy sailed off for a long, round-the-world voyage. The project was dedicated to the bicentenary of the first round-the-world voyage of Russian sailors commanded by I.Kruzenshtern and Yu.Lisyansky on board the sloops “Nadezhda” and “Neva”.

There were young members of naval patriotic clubs and Great Patriotic War veterans present. The latter recollected their legendary voyages, recited their poems and sang songs about the sea, friendship and loyalty.
