The first results of the sports and athletics meeting

A big Sports and Athletics Meeting is being held at the Maritime State University during a month. All the MSU Institutes and Faculties are taking part in it. The results have been summed up in three kinds of sports.

Our talents

“Our Circle” is the name of an amateur arts festival of the Maritime State University. This Yea heads of the University Club – O.A.Gavreva, Director and T.A Slavskaya, Director Deputy offered to hold a festival, not a contest, so that new talents could be seen.

Meetings with rector

In the last days of 2004 V.I.Sedykh, the MSU Rector, held a few final meetings. At his meeting with members of the Cadets’ and Students’ Councils, the Rector told about the way the MSU will be financed including financing educational work, about setting up a maritime university complex centered in Vladivostok (on the basis of the MSU) with its branches in Nakhodka, Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk and Sakhalin.

Exchange of experience

The Second Far Eastern Research Conference on Aikido was held in the Maritime University. The participants were Akido Federations of Primorski Krai, Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The objective of the Conference was exchange of experience. Such conferences are to be held annually.

Interdisciplinary seminar “Basic structures of universe”

On Tuesday, 28 December at 14.00 hours in Room # 0311 the 22nd lesson of the Seminar will be held. The theme of the lesson is “Basic Forces: Electromagnetic Interactions”. A.S.Burundukov, Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor of Physics Department will conduct the lesson. All those wishing are invited to the lesson.

Sports results of the year

The Primorski Regional Sports Committee summed up the results of the outgoing year 2004. On 23 December a ceremony of awarding the best sportsmen took place.

Diploma of the First Students’ Film Festival

The First Far Eastern International Festival of Documentary, Science-Popularizing and training Films finished in Vladivostok. Film groups from 21 Russian universities, as also their counterparts from the USA, Japan, the Republic of Korea and China took part in the event.

Government rewards

On 22 December the government rewards were handed by officials of the Primorski Regional Administration to twenty Primoyans for their professional achievements. Two members of the Maritime State University staff – Vladimir Fyodorovich Gamanov, the MSU 1st Vice-Rector and Amir Glimovich Khamatov, Deputy Director, RCFEMPT, were among them.

New books of the people’s program

On 16 December the last in 2004 meeting of the “Sails” Literary Studio took place. Head of the Studio poet Vladimir Tytskikh deviated from an ordinary procedure – first discussion of beginners’ manuscripts and then sorting out organizational matters.

Remembrance day of those who perished in marine accidents

On 13 December the Conference “In commemoration of those who perished in marine accidents” took place in the Maritime State University. In 1994 the MSU proposed to establish the Remembrance Day of Victims of Marine Accidents in the Pacific on December 13.

Results of the students sports and athletics meeting

On 22.10-20.11 the “Buruvestnik” Sports Society held a Students’ Sports and Athletics Meeting “Freshman 2004” for Primorski University students in seven kinds of sports: swimming, track and field, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, mini-football and chess. Representatives of 10 higher education institutions took part in the competition.

On 7 December the Maritime State University marked the 191th birthday of Gennedy Ivanovich Nevelskoy. Since 1965 the MSU has been bearing the name of the outstanding Russian seafarer.

On 1-2 December the 1st Congress of Primorye Entrepreneurs was held in Vladivostok. More than 600 participants took part in it. Among them there was the Institute of Sea Protection of the Maritime State University.

Summing up summer results

63 boys aged from 12 to 17 who spent 2.5 summer months in the MSU Children’s Health Center “Seafarer” got together at the University to sum up the results They received their sports prizes and letters of gratitude signed by the MSU Rector.

The expiring year is marked for the Maritime State University by joining in the International Association of the Maritime Universities of the world. Our cadet is one of the best

Last Saturday Primorski Championship in Freestyle Wrestling among adults was held. Vadim Sazhin, MSU engineering cadet showed a good result - the first place in the weight category under 50 kg and the 2nd place in the weight category of 55 kg.
