Veterans’ council resuming its work

A Veterans’ Council has been set up in the MSU. It unites participants of hostile actions and labor veterans who worked in the MSU during 25-30 years.

At its first meeting Amir Glimovich Khamatov was elected head of the Veterans’ Council. He is WW2 veteran who is still working with the University.

On 21 Septenmber the AMETIAP Conference started in the Maritime State University. The plenary meeting was held in the Assembly Hall where the Conference participants, MSU teachers, cadets and guests got together.

AMETIAP conference. Day three

The last, third day’s venue was the sailing ship "Nadezhda" which made a pleasure cruise in the Amur Bay. At the last session training on board the sailer "Nadezhda" for the cadets of the MSU and other maritime educational and training institutions was discussed.

MSU international links are strengthening

On 20 September two meetings of international significance took place in the Maritime State University. During the MSU Rector’s and Tsindao Maritime College (China) Rector’s meeting a Supplement to the Agreement, specifying the teachers’ exchange. The both sides are ready to receive two teachers during one term.

AMETIAP conference in MSU

AMETIAP stands for Association of Maritime Educational and Training Institutions of the Asian-Pacific Region. The Association holds annual conferences and general meetings of its 89 members. After California, USA, Vladivostok takes over. The Conference will be held from 20-23 September.

Russia’s championship in yachting is over

Russia’s Championship in Yachting 2004 completed in Vladivostok. The yacht "Condor" owned by the Maritime State University (skipper Garik Stepanyan) took the 3rd place.

Russian championship in "Konrad 25" class goes on

Russian Championship in Yachting opened in Vladivostok on September 3 goes on. Three races are over, two more are ahead. Sportsmen from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Khabarovsk, Taganrog, Sochi, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Nakhodka and Vladivostok are taking part in the Championship.In all there are 39 participating crews. According to the results of the first three races, "Rock’n’Roll", "Illusion" and "Condor" (MSU) are the first three. The final results will be made known after two more races, on September 10 and 12.

Center of pre-university training in Knevichi

School year started successfully in the Center of Pre-University Training and Patriotic Education, Maritime State University in village Knevichi. Now 100 schoolchildren are studying there mainly from socially difficult families. The children are fully provided.

So far financing is less that it was expected. MSU Rector V.I.Sedykh is planning to start vocational training of the teenagers.

A lecture "Should Man Destroy Himself: is he Programmed for Ecologic Suicide?" was delivered at the Maritime State University by Prof. Rock Brinner, New York University.

The US professor thinks that every person is responsible for the life on our planet.

Russia’s championship in yachting

Russia’s championship in "Konrad 25"class yachting is being held in Vladivostok for the third day. This competition has the status of the country’s championship for the second year. Previously, since 1986 it was held within the framework of the All-Russian Regatta "Peter the Great Bay Cup". The Maritime State University entered the first three prize-winners five times and twice the "Condor" yacht crew headed by the well-known yachtsman, MSU teacher Garik Stepanyan became a winner of this hard and prestigious race.

Good magazine for the young

The second issue (July-August) of the youth magazine "Fishka" came out. The Maritime University is represented there by an interview Vyacheslav I. Sedykh, MSU Rector and Chairman of Primorski University Rectors’ Council, gave journalist Alexander Gelbakh. The material is illustrated by photos showing the cadets’ life and the beautiful "Nadezhda" hoisting all her sails.

Speaking the language of soul

The Maritime State University named after admiral G.I.Nevelskoy published a collection of poems translated by Vyacheslav Protasov within the framework of the Popular Publishing Program "New Book".
