It was recently, it was long ago

Every time one attends meetings of the MSU alumni, one cannot but ask a question: what was there in their cadets’ lives that having parted 20, 30 or 40 years ago they maintain contacts with each other? This question arose at a meeting of graduates-1975 of the Engineering Faculty. 30 years have passed since cadets of Company 10 sailed to a voyage named "grown-up life".

The training sailcraft "Nadezhda" owned by the Maritime State University sailed to another voyage with 124 navigation cadets of Company 14. The boys are completing their first year.

"Nadezhda" received guests

Recently the training sailer "Nadezhda" received guests during three days. 36 boys and two girls from the Childern’s Health Camp "Morekhod" that functions with the MSU every summer has their seamanship training on board a real sailing ship.

Photo report: Admiral Nevelskoy Cup Regatta

The cruising race "Admiral Nevelskoy Cup" were held during three days - from 5 to 7 August. The Maritime State University organized it for the 24th time. 48 yachts from clubs of Vladivostok, Nakhodka and Khabarovsk took pat in the prestigious race this year. 14 of them represented the MSU. The race distance is from Fyodorov Bay, Vladivostok up to Minonosok Bay in Slavyansky Bay.

Admiral Nevelskoy Cup Regatta

On 5 August the cruising race "Admiral Nevelskoy Cup" will start on the water area of the Amyrsky Bay. For the 24th year in succession it is held by the Maritime State University with support of the Primorsky Regional Yachting Federation. This year the competition will last three days - on 5, 6 and 7 August. About 40 yachts and 200 sportsmen will take part. Coca-Cola Bottlers Vladivostok Company is a general sponsor of the event.

Applicants became students

Admission of freshmen took place at the Maritime State University. All 687 seats funded by the federal budget are filled. 40 of them are allotted to the MSU Sakhalin branch (town Kholmsk).

A delegation from Niigata

A delegation from Niigata Prefecture, Japan visited the Maritime University. It was headed by Executive Director of NSG College Group Mr.Kawasaki. The purpose of the visit was to make proposals on cooperation in the sphere of training. 22 colleges are functioning at the Prefecture, students are being trained in 150 specialities and the doors of Japanese training institutions can also be opened for students of the Maritime State University.

A well-known prose writer and editor-in-chief of the Russian literary magazine "Far East" Vyacheslav Victorovich Sukachov marked his 60th birthday, as usual, on the way to Ussuriysk and Vladivostok where he met with librarians, critics, poets, writers and University teachers.

To greet Albina Nilovna Vasilyeva on her jubilee at the Fadeyev Library, a lot of her colleagues and friends came. All of them came to felicitate the well-known woman who worked as a librarian during many years. "Far East" №4

An issue of the Russian literary magazine "Far East" published in July-August 2005 carries an article by Iya Permyakova "There won’t be any time to spare…" about creative work of Vyacheslav Protasov, a poet of the MSU Literary Studio "Sails". He is an author of books of translations of works by H.Heine, classical German poet and English poet Emily Dickinson, as also some books of his own poems.
