News for september, 2005 September 27, 2005Far Eastern Marine education jubilee Active preparations for the jubilee - the 115th anniversary of the Far Eastern marine education started in the Maritime State University. The idea of Peter the Great about establishing Russian marine education system was turned into reality in the Baltic, then eastern Siberia and later on the Pacific shore.

Last week an international business game MUNA (Model United Nations Assembly) was held in our University. It was prepared during one year. Students were improving their English and Australians came here to help us in arranging and holding the game. Its organizers are the City Veterans’ Council and the Department of Culture and Youth Policy of the City Hall. A delegation of the MSU students together with war veterans visited 9 frontier posts and garrisons during 5 days. Its last stage was a lottery arranged specially for students and cadets. Its special prize was PC based on Intel Pentium 4 processor with NT technology.

Press Service of the Maritime State University | more |   September 20, 2005Australians are participants of the gameTo conduct the International Business Game MUNA (Model of the United Nations) a team of 20 persons arrived from Australia. The Game will take place on 21-22 September in the Conference Hall of the University. The Game follows the lines of the UN sittings. Every team is a delegation of this or that country discussing urgent problems like disappearing animal species, world terrorism etc. The task of the Game is to try to resolve pressing issues without infringement of interests of one’s country and respecting the position of neighbors. Press Service of the Maritime State University | more |   September 16, 2005The MSU scholars are participants of an international conference On 13 September the 5th Asian-Pacific Conference on Fundamental Problems of Optic and Microelectronics APCOM 2005 opened in the Conference Hall of the FEB RAS Presidium on 13 September. Its Organizing Committee embraced academicians and corresponding members of the RAS and directors of RAS leading institutes from Moscow, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk and Vladivostok.

Preparation of a major project - International Business Game MUNA (Model United Nations Assembly) is completing. The first stage passed - selection of participants, practice in English: seeing films in English and classes with Australian teachers. On 18 September the MSU is expecting guests - a team of specialists from Sydney to conduct the Game on 21-22 September. Press Service of the Maritime State University | more |   September 13, 2005Russian sailing championship is over The most important sailing competition of this year - "Peter the Great Bay Cup" - Russian Championship in class Konrad-25P is over. The yacht "Parus" of the Maritime State University was the leader from start and finish in the two last stages (races No.4 and 5) (skipper Alexei Mikhailov). One more MSU yacht "Impuls" (skipper Konstantin Litvintsev) was the second in the 5th race. Four MSU yachts occupied the 5th-8th places. After that young people and their parents were wondering what Universities will remain untouched. At last on 8 September at his meeting with journalists in Moscow army general Nikolai Pankov declared the list; on 9 September it was published in "Rossiiskaya Gazeta"
Press Service of the Maritime State University | more |   September 9, 2005Russian championship in sailing continuedPeter the Great Bay Cup - Russian Championship in class Konrad-25P is going on. 30 crews of yachts from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Kazan, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Zhelezniigirsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Khabarovsk. Primorye is represented by yacht clubs from Vladivostok ("Seven Feet", TURNIF and the MSU), Slavyanka, Nakhodka, Bolshoy Kamen and Podyapolsk. Five MSU yachts are taking part in the Championship. 18 more yachts of different classes are participants of the regatta Peter the Great Bay Cup, six of them belong to the MSU yacht club.

The other day the Mitsui O.S.K.Lines (MOL), a shipping company from Japan signed an agreement with the MSU named after Admiral G.I.Nevelskoy about training seafarers for her ships’ crews. Press Service of the Maritime State University | more |   September 2, 2005Russia’s championship in yachting On 2 September Inauguration of the Russian Yachting Championship in "Konrad-25P class took place in Vladivostok. Primorsky Governor Sergei Darkin heads the Organizing Committee of this prestigious competition, the other members being Alexander Kotenkov, President’s Rep in the Federation Council and V.I.Sedykh, Rector, Maritime State University. There are the MSU representatives in the Championship Executive Committee - Y.L.Sayapin, V.V.Klyuyev, G.Y.Stepanyan and A.M.Mikhailov.
