Flowers to Port Arthur heroes
Soldiers who perished in 1945, pilots who died during the Korean War and servicemen of the Soviet garrison stationed there after the war are buried in a memorial cemetery in Luishun (former Port Arthur). Last week MSU 4th -year navigation cadets Vitaly Nikolayev and Dmitry Yurkiv laid flowers to the graves of the dead compatriots.

Conference on Rector’s Election
On 14 May 2008 A Conference of Rector’s Election took place at the Assembly Hall at 15:00. Owing to a disease of one of the candidates Lev B. Leontyev, Vice-Rector (Academic) the conference took a decision to suspend its activity for three weeks.

Traditional meeting of “Kayo Maru”
On the morning of May 10 the MSU band and cadets of the Marine Technological College met the Japanese ship Kayo Maru owned by the Marine High School, Niigata Prefecture. Again Japanese cadets are our guests. They paid their annual visit to our University. Friendly relations between our institutions have been maintained for 12 years.

Meeting of like-minded persons
On May 5 there was a meeting of Sergai A. Ogai, Vice-rector and candidate to the rector’s position with the University staff. He told about his activities as the Acting Rector and answered the questions about increase in salaries, free admission of staff members’ children, new specialties and preparation of the MSU training ships for voyages.

Leaders are not born – leaders are brought up
MUNA leaders represent MSU not only in Russia, but also abroad. In April MSU cadet Anatoly Chekmezov was a participant of the international MUNA held in Moscow, and MSU student Yevgenia Boyar saw this New Year in in Sydney on the invitation of our foreign partners – RI representatives Barry Philps and George Beirutty.
There are new targets ahead – participation in the UN Assembly in Geneva.

Korean cadets at MSU
On 30 April cadets of Pohang School of Marine Sciences arrived at the Admiral Nevelskoy MSU. They visited the MSU Museum where they familiarized themselves with history of Russian seafaring and our University.

MSU column was the best part of May Day procession
About 30,000 Primorsky people took part in the May Day demonstration. The column of the Admiral Nevelskoy Maritime State University attracted everybody’s attention. Both cadets and students wore uniform. They marched past the distinguished guests down the main street proudly.
