Foreign students got acquainted with Russian folk art

On the 29th of September within frames of “Beauty lesson” program Chinese students of Institute for International Education of Maritime State University studied Russian traditional crafts at «Craftsmen’ street» of International exhibition complex of Primorsky state museum named after V.K. Arseniev.

7 October 2008 is the World Day of Trade Union Actions for Labor Worth of Note

International Trade Union Confederation declared October 7, 2008 the World Day of Trade Union Actions for Worthy Labor. Federation of Russia’s Independent Trade Unions welcomed the idea.

Social problems like suitable wages and pensions, social guarantees and raising living standards are still urgent in this country.

On October 7 at 1500 Primorsky Trade Union Federation holds a meeting in the Cewntral Square of Vladivostok.

On 28 September foreign students of the MSU International Service Institute of International Education took part in celebrations devoted to the Vladivostok traditional Tiger Day. Since 2000 the Tiger Day is well-known in Russia.

Foreign students got acquainted with marine history of Vladivostok

On the 13th of September, 2008, in their free from classes time, students from Harbin polytechnic university (People’s republic of China), who participate in exchange program of the Institute for International Education of Maritime State University named after adm. G.I. Nevelskoy, visited Vladivostok’s monuments, places, related to its marine history.

On the night of Sept 7 victory ceremony of the Championship as well as Peter the Great Cup Regatta took place. The crew of the Commodore Bering whose skipper is Vladimir Gamanov won the first place.

The final race of the Peter the Great Bay Cup Regatta took place. At 10 a.m. 60 yachts started it to cover the distance of 21 nautical miles.

The Nadezhda rescues people

We quote an entry in the log book of the sailing ship Nadezhda: “On September 10 at 21:30 information was received from the m/s Professor Khlyustin that they heard sinking people’s calls for help. At 21.30 a life-boat was launched. At 21.40 two persons were taken from water aboard the life-boat. At 21.50 they were taken aboard the Nadezhda where first aid was rendered”. After their small launch capsized they spent five hours in the water of the Amursky Bay. On the following morning the rescued people were sent home by launch.

On Sept 8 Russian Yachting Championship finished in Vladivostok. The most prestigious Russian regatta includes five races whose distances vary from 22 to 210 nautical miles.

RF Transport Minister’s Congratulations and Awards
