Doctoral Study

In 1999 the doctoral study was opened at the University in the following specialities:

• 05.08.04 “Technology of shipbuilding, ship repairs and shipbuilding organization”, research supervisors: V.I.Sedykh, doctor of engineering, professor; L.I.Sen, doctor of engineering, professor: A.I.Azovtsev, doctor of engineering, professor. The main directions of scientific research in this speciality are improving technologies of restoring and strengthening parts of ships technical aids, increasing reliability of ships and dock structures in marine transport.

• 05.08.05 “Ships power plants and their elements (main and auxiliary ones)”, research supervisors professor G.P.Kicha, doctor of engineering; professor V.M.Slesarenko, doctor of engineering; professor L.I.Sen, doctor of engineering. The main directions of scientific research in this speciality are working out and effective use in marine equipment of fuel and lubricants; studying SPP processes and optimising STA characteristics; mode characteristics of ships desalination plants, their improving and making new types; hydrodynamics and heat exchange when sea water boils in desalination plants.

Thesis council D.223.005.01 has been set up in these specialities.

Regulations on Doctoral Study

Persons having a degree of candidate of sciences can be admitted to the doctoral study. The doctoral study lasts three years. The persons admitted to the doctoral study are exempt from their posts as per the Russian Federation Labour Legislation. The University Academic Council tests persons working for doctors’ degrees annually.
