Many conventional scientific trends connected with sea transport problems are being successfully developed in the university. New trends in science are being developed on the departments of Physics, Chemistry and Ecology, Navigation, Computer Studies, Psychology , Psycholophysiology and Labour Psychology in extreme condition, Philosophy and Philosophical Anthropology, Management Institute.

Personnel and the material and technical basis of the university permit to conduct scientific researches on some prosperous tendencies:

  • Developing navigation technical devices and their complex research;

  • Systems and devices of ships security, security of navigation in extreme conditions;

  • Laser technologies in navigation security systems and systems of connection;

  • Increasing the exploitation reliability of contemporary navigation security systems;

  • Fleet technical exploitation improvement;

  • Repair technologies developing;

  • Using modern methods of control and diagnostics of vessels machines and gears;

  • Computer technologies in engineer’s projecting;

  • Using flexible constructions on sea transport;

  • Energy saving technologies on transport and in power engineering;

  • Alternative and renewable energy resources;

  • Diagnostics and reliability of electro and biological systems;

  • Improving and updating of vessels electro equipment and automation systems;

  • Methods and forms of management on transport enterprises;

  • Improving of sea transport management technologies and methods;

  • Researches in the sphere of Philosophical Anthropology;

  • Psychological aspects of professional adaptation to the extreme working conditions, behavior psychology in extreme conditions;

  • Laser technologies in navigation and environment monitoring systems;

  • Scientific-methodological problems of new educational methods application.

The great volume of scientific researches is being done in the sphere of increasing the exploitation reliability and security of maritime transport systems.

There are a lot of traditional scientific trends oriented on transport complex developing. A lot of them are based on long-term and traditional scientific researches in maritime sphere.

Scientific trends which have appeared recently are coordinated according to demands of Transport Ministry, Science Ministry and Far Eastern Region development. The University pays much attention to the development or fundamental researches. University officials consider it to be the main point of their policy of maritime education system developing. The university actively cooperates with the institutes of Far Eastern Department of Russian Science Academy and other universities.

The university conducts researches of marine systems of ecology with Far Eastern Department of Russian Science Academy.

There are new joint laboratories and scientific regions of:

  • Optic-electro technologies;

  • Informational systems;

  • Laser technologies;

  • Corrosion prevention;

  • Systems of vessels movement;

  • Controlling crew’s health.

All scientific researches are supported by Administration of Primorskyi Region and sea transport enterprises.

The university conducts scientific researches by the order of Transport Ministry. It also coordinates international scientific and investigation forums.

Scientific trends are grouped according to faculties.

 

SCIENTIFIC TRENDS OF SHIP MECHANIC FACULTY

1. Improving technical improving of fleet.

The processing of new scientific-technical trends of technical exploitation of diesel engine improving and economy of fuel and energy resources are being done within this trend. The scientific school is headed by G.P. Kicha, Professor, Doctor of Technical Science. These researches were the base of production of filter elements for all transport engines with high effectiveness. The unique methods of diagnostics based on the analysis of used fuel combustibles were created. Researches results in the sphere of fuel and oil chemistry were applied in the system of fuel combustibles certification. Works of diagnostics and improving elements of vessels energy stations are headed by Professor Slessarenko V.N. and Ilyin A.K. They head the researches of creating ecological energy sources and improving of ship energy equipment. Competitive filter elements were made and they reply all modern demands of International Convention to prevent pollution from vessels.

Process of optimization and vessels energy stations elements is being done on the department of Vessels Subsidiary Energy Equipment and headed by the Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Sen’L.I. Vessels boilers of new generation and their elements were processed and patented. Program complexes which allow to improve features of boilers and methods were designed.

Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Pogvolotskyi N.M. and his students are working out theoretical and methodological basis of creating such trainers as cargo ballast actions on ships. The results of researches are being used now to make a system which allows to test knowledge with some elements of trainer preparation of oil loading ship system.

A lot of specialists are developing such trends as projecting and estimating technical conditions of hull constructions. Moskalenko M.A. Assisting Professor of Theory and Vessel Construction Department analyses damaging of ship hull construction and Assisting Professor, Chesnokov A.G. carries out projecting and estimating technical condition of over deck constructions.

Doctor of Chemical Science, Professor and the Head of Chemistry and Ecology Department Chernov B.B.is responsible for such trend as chemical process and technologies on sea transport.

2. Improving of technologies and management of ship repair production.

This trend is headed by the Head of the University, Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Sedyukh V.I. There are researches in the sphere of reconstruction of gear parts based on laser and electrochemical technologies. Program complexes for technical service systems and sea transport repair had been developed and are being used now in the production.

3. Using soft and flexible constructions on sea transport.

This scientific trend is headed by the Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Druzd’B.I. Two more doctors are working in this sphere, Azovtsev A.I. and MoskalenkoA.D.

Theoretical basis of different systems have been developed.

4. Automated systems of projecting sea transport technical management of industrial and transport enterprises.

This tend is headed by the Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Kuzlaykina V.V. Researches in the sphere of making and using computer technologies of technical systems projecting on different stages, using automated systems of fleet technical exploitation management (system AMOSD) are being done.

5. Scientific methodological problems of increasing the effectiveness of academic process.

It is one of the most important trend in the university. Doctors of technical science, Professors Kuzlayakina V.V. and Moskalenko A.D. and their students develop these researches. They conduct researches in the sphere of methodological and organizational principals of modern maritime education conception, they create automated systems of education and knowledge control and modern educational technologies.

 

SCIENTIFIC TRENDS OF SHIP NAVIGATION FACULTY

1. Improvement of navigation devices and methods.

Assisting Professor Lentarev AS.A. is carrying out the researches of theoretical basis of ship movement security management systems, Executive Assisting Professor

Lobastov V.M. is working in the sphere of program complexes for counting and control of vessels, systems of automated knowledge control o sea fleet specialists.

Professor Pismennyi M.N. is researching sea practice of vessels in the Far Eastern region.

Math basis of this trend is provided by the Doctor of Physics and Math Science, Professor Dubinin V.N.

In cooperation with NORFES company and on the base of its equipment the researches in the sphere of reliability of automated systems are being conducted. New possibilities are connected with trainer complex of Ship Analytics.

2. Technical devices of navigation and connection.

These researches are headed by the Professor Abramovich B.A. There are researches in the sphere of creating navigation systems of security providing on the base of laser technologies.

 

SCIENTIFIC TRENDS OF ELECTRO MECHANIC FACULTY

1. Energy and resource saving and ecological technologies on transport and power engineering.

This trend is headed by the Doctor of Technical Science, Professor Verevkin V.Ph. and Professor Radchenko P.M. They are developing and researching combinated power engineering plants on the base of accumulators. The new project of free pollution marine transport of new generation for coastal navigation had been developed. This project can decide the urgent problem of coastal navigation in ports of Primosrkyi region. The system of wind energy plants for using in sea had been developed. The system of controlling combinated work of wind and diesel electro plants is being developed now. The combinated energy plant of a training ship has been patented in Japan.

2. Diagnostics and reliability of electronic and biological systems.

This wide trend is headed by the Professor Bogdanov V.I. , Losev V.L. and Assisting Professor Sgrebnev N.V.

Unique systems of automated management of different systems on base of neuron nets are being researched now. Theoretical basis of modern radiolocation is being created.

3. Improving and modernization of electro equipment and automation of a ship.

This is the traditional scientific trend for the faculty. Assisting Professor Sologub N.P. and Nickolaev D.S. have developed the technology of samples of ship cables electro isolation.

4. Developing and using corporate informational systems and Internet technologies.

This new scientific trend is headed by the Head of Computer Studies Department, Director of Informational Technologies Center Khovanets V.A.

 

SCIENTIFIC TRENDS OF MILITARY EDUCATION FACULTY

Military education faculty headed by Pro-rector of maritime military education, Assisting Professor Ivanov V.A. who conducts scientific researches in different spheres with another faculties.

1. Researches in the sphere of hydroacoustic signals recognition are being conducted by the Professor Bogdanov V.I.

2. There are some researches of increasing the effectiveness of hydroacoustic interpolar logs on military points ( Professor Abramovich B.G.).

3. New methods of military maritime specialists education using computer technologies such as informational systems of submarine constructions and their systems, first aid in extreme conditions are being developed.

 

SCIENTIFIC TRENDS OF PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Researches in the sphere of Philosophy and Philosophical Anthropology, Psychology of maritime specialists behaviour in extreme conditions are being conducted. Assisting Professor Orlova M.U. , Kalita V.V. and Sakutin V.A. supervise these researches.

 

NEW SCIENTIFIC TRENDS IN MSU

New scientific trends appeared in the university thanks to integration process of university and academic science. The federal program “State Support of Higher Education and Fundamental Science Integration” promoted these trends. The university being the main executive of the project ?746 “Monitoring of the Pacific Ocean water ecological features” conducted researches on the board of “Nadezhda” in equator part of the Pacific Ocean in 1997-1998. The results of these researches will be the scientific base for developing technologies of complex monitoring of biological productivity and ecological features of the Pacific Ocean water.

Thanks to this project, a new scientific trend connected with using laser technologies in sea navigation appeared in the university. This trend is being developed now by scientists of FEDRSA and maritime university. A new specialty of radio physics appeared in post graduate studies.

There is one more scientific trend which is actively being developed now, informational technologies on transport and in education.

The university has developed some projects such as:

  • Informational systems of transport complex in Primorskyi region;

  • Automated informational system of preventing extreme situations in Primorskyi region;

  • Geological monitoring of sea area of Far East;

  • Scientific practical base of preventing population and territories from oil spreading system;

  • Creating electronic maps to evaluate pollution;

  • Creating informational base of biological resources of coastal water of Primorskyi region.
