Awards presented to the winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Robotic Boat Competition

The All-Russian Competitions of Robotic Boats (unmanned vessels) was held at the Far Eastern Maritime Training Center (FEMTC) of the Admiral G.I. Nevelskoy Maritime State University in Vladivostok. The Competition was organized by ANMSU and the Robotics Development Centre. On September 25, the solemn ceremony of presenting awards to the winners and runners-up took place in the concert hall of the FEMTC.

This year, eight teams from St. Petersburg, Kansk, Chelyabinsk and Vladivostok participated in the Competition attended by schoolchildren, students and graduate students aged from 14 to 29.

In his speech at the award ceremony, the ANMSU Rector Denis Burov noted the importance of holding the all-Russian competitions, which allow young people to be involved in technical creativity and to express themselves in engineering during their school and student years. Indeed, today autonomous shipping, underwater robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles are priority areas for the development of science and technology in Russia, the head of the University emphasized. To achieve these goals, it is necessary to conduct high-quality training of future engineers. It begins with the mass involvement of young people in technical creativity. The All-Russian Robotic Boat Competition is aimed at accomplishing this task.

Many teams showed interesting technical solutions in terms of layout, electronic components, and software algorithms for solving problems that they implemented. The guys demonstrated a fairly good level of preparation in all aspects. in the future, their ideas can be applied when performing various tasks where it is desirable to avoid direct contact between a person and the environment.

A wide variety of boat designs in terms of hull shape and technical solutions were presented at the Competition. For example, a team from the Robotics Development Center (Vladivostok) printed their boat on a 3D printer, presenting it in the form of a toothy shark. Students from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University created a donut-shaped device.

It was a team competition. The participants developed their own autonomous vessel, adhering to the set parameters - no more than 1.5 meters in length. In the bowl of the FEMTC pool complex, they performed special tasks in conditions close to real ones. Preparation of a technical report and presentation of the project to experts in the field of autonomous navigation was equally important for obtaining high results. The team from the Robotics Development Center (Vladivostok) coped with it best of all, scoring the highest number of points in this indicator. The ANMSU Bulk team scored the highest number of points on the water, but was several points behind the Mega team, scoring fewer points for the technical report.

The winners` podium looks like this: 3rd place - «Greek Melon» - St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University; 2nd place - Bulk team - Adm. G.I. Nevelskoy Maritime State University.. And the Winner's Cup was awarded to the Mega team of the Robotics Development Center (Vladivostok).
